The General Conference Session currently scheduled for May 20-25, 2021, is an event that many members of our church around the world have been looking forward to for some time. It is therefore with deep regret that due to the restrictions and uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, general attendees will not be allowed to attend the 2021 General Conference Session in person.
We recognize that many individuals have been preparing and making travel plans to attend the GC Session, but based on the social distancing regulations, we have no choice but to reduce the number of attendees allowed for this gathering. Due to our inability to offer onsite attendance for anyone beyond the delegates, we will be live streaming the entire program. This stream will be available to via this website, session.adventist.org.
Additionally, upon careful evaluation of the evolving circumstances with regards to this pandemic, it is clear that the health and financial risk of bringing thousands of people from all over the world together in an enclosed space is unacceptable. These risks are particularly compounded if there is a sudden need to make changes close to the time of the event.
The 61st GC Session will be the first time where general attendees will not be in attendance, but it is with a deep sense of obligation to protect the health and safety of the members of our world church that this decision is being made. We thank you for your understanding and invite your prayers as we continue to move forward in this dynamic and unpredictable environment.
